Istanbul further strengthened its status as a global cultural and sports center by hosting consecutive international events in May 2026.
According to Modern.az, two major stadium concerts held simultaneously in the city on the 30th of the month attracted special attention. Kanye West kicked off his European tour at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium, while Andrea Bocelli performed at the Beşiktaş Park Stadium. These two events brought together approximately 140,000 spectators from Europe, the Middle East, and other regions in Istanbul.
Kanye West's tour, which started in Istanbul, attracted tens of thousands of foreign viewers to the city, and the concert was broadcast live to millions of people. With an audience of 118,000, this performance was one of the largest stadium concerts in recent years. On the same evening, Andrea Bocelli also took the stage in front of 22,000 spectators as part of the “Romanza – 30th Anniversary World Tour”.
Istanbul's international event calendar will continue throughout the year: various concerts, the European Volleyball Championship, an intercontinental swimming competition, cycling races, and yacht races will be held in the city during the summer and autumn months. These events further highlight Istanbul's developed infrastructure, tourism potential, and global appeal.
