Azerbaijan is ready to put forward initiatives for the restoration of historical and religious monuments and mosques located in the territory of present-day Armenia in the future.
Modern.az reports that Fazil Mustafa, chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on Public Associations and Religious Organizations, said this during his speech at an event dedicated to the protection of historical and religious heritage.
The deputy noted that Azerbaijan's activities related to the restoration of historical and religious monuments are not limited to the country's territory.
“As we stated in our discussions regarding Western Azerbaijan, if the opportunity arises in the future, we are ready to put forward initiatives for the restoration of historical and religious monuments and mosques in the territory of present-day Armenia,” the committee chairman said.
Fazil Mustafa added that in the post-peace agreement phase, the issue of restoring the heritage in those territories may also come to the agenda.
