Chilean director Sebastian Lelio has passed away.
Modern.az reports that the director, who was the author of many films and was awarded the “Oscar” in the “Best International Film” category in 2018, died at the age of 52.
Lelio's p was reportedly found in his home in Santiago.
The director's girlfriend, actress Amalia Kassai, announced the sad news to the public with a statement she shared on her “Instagram” account.
The statement said:
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sebastian Lelio due to health problems. We are deeply saddened. His memory will live with us forever.”
Sebastian Lelio is best known for his film “A Fantastic Woman”, which won the “Oscar” in the “Best International Film” category in 2018.
Born in Argentina, Lelio moved to Chile with his family at the age of two. The director, who initially studied journalism, later entered the Chilean Film School.
The famous director worked with well-known actresses such as Julianne Moore, Rachel Weisz and Florence Pugh. His directorial works include “The Year of the Tiger”, “Gloria”, “The Wave” and “Disobedience”.
