Another Azerbaijani has been killed in the war in Ukraine.
According to Modern.az, Asif Novruz oglu Mehdiyev, a Russian citizen of Azerbaijani origin born in 1995, who was fighting in the Russian army, lost his life during military operations in Ukraine.
Asif Mehdiyev, born on March 19, 1995, and living in Astrakhan, is reported to have served as a contract soldier in the Russian army. He was killed in one of the fierce battles on the Donetsk region direction of the front line.
It should be noted that since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine war, the number of Azerbaijanis participating in the battles and losing their lives on both sides is measured in hundreds. Among the war victims are both local Azerbaijanis fighting in the Ukrainian army and our compatriots living in Russia and recruited into that country's army.
