Özgür Özel, who was removed from his position as CHP chairman by the decision of the Ankara Court, has been re-elected as the leader of the CHP's parliamentary group (faction) in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).
Modern.az reports, citing the Turkish press, that according to information released by the party's press service, a closed faction meeting was held at the party headquarters. Özgür Özel was re-elected as the CHP TBMM Faction leader, winning 95 of the 96 votes cast by the deputies attending the meeting. Only 1 of the votes cast was deemed invalid.
According to the information, 15 of the 42 deputies who could not attend the meeting due to valid reasons such as illness, funeral, or being on assignment abroad, expressed their support for Özgür Özel in writing. It should be noted that CHP currently has a total of 138 deputies in parliament.
