Regional instability and inflation indirectly affect Azerbaijan's post-conflict reconstruction process in Karabakh.

Modern.az reports that Farid Shafiyev, Chairman of the Board of the Center for Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center), said this during a discussion titled “The Middle East Crisis and its Impacts on Global Housing and Urban Development” within the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.
“This is the legacy left behind by Armenia's occupation and urbicide policy,” he added.

According to Farid Shafiyev, the conflict in Syria, which has lasted for more than thirteen years, has devastated urban infrastructure and housing stock.

“According to the World Bank, physical damage to buildings and infrastructure has reached approximately $108 billion, while total reconstruction costs are estimated at approximately $216 billion. The destruction of housing has severely hampered the return of millions of Syrian refugees and internally displaced persons. Rising prices for construction materials, fuel, transport, and labor slow down reconstruction efforts and increase the financial burden on the state and international donors.”
