A drone that entered the country's territory in southeastern Latvia, near the Belarusian border, fell into a lake and exploded.
Modern.az reports with reference to foreign media that the incident occurred this morning. Local residents informed the police about the incident.
According to witnesses, the drone fell into Lake Dridzis in the Kraslava region, located in the southeast of the country. The UAV immediately detonated and exploded upon contact with water. Law enforcement agencies have already discovered debris believed to belong to the drone at the scene. No one was injured in the incident.
Representatives of the Latvian National Armed Forces stated that the UAV that entered the country's territory was not registered by radars (sensors). For this very reason, air raid warning (SMS) messages were not sent to residents' mobile phones. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
