Syria will participate as an invited country in the G7 summit to be held in France next month.

Modern.az reports that “Reuters” agency spread information citing three sources familiar with the situation.

According to the information, Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa will also participate in the summit. It is noted that this will be Syria's first participation in the G7 summit.

The summit will be held on June 15-17 in Evian-les-Bains, France. The invitation is reported to have been delivered to Syria's Minister of Finance, Yusra Barniya. The minister participated in financial talks within the G7 framework in Paris this week.

According to one of the sources, Syria's main goal in the talks will be to present the country as a potential strategic logistics and supply hub. Especially after the problems arising from passages through the Strait of Hormuz, Syria's new route opportunities are brought to the forefront.

It should be recalled that since the beginning of the war with Iran, shipping activities in the Strait of Hormuz have been largely restricted since the end of February, and this situation has created serious problems in the global economy.
