As the June 7 parliamentary elections in Armenia approach, the political situation is becoming more tense. The pro-Russian opposition, trying to overthrow the government, is trying to discredit Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in the eyes of the Armenian public by all means.
In this matter, Samvel Karapetyan, a businessman and leader of the "Strong Armenia" bloc, is particularly active.
Modern.az reports that Samvel Karapetyan is trying to keep the "300 thousand Azerbaijanis" claim on the agenda. Thus, he once again claimed that "Nikol Pashinyan has undertaken an obligation to Azerbaijan regarding the return of 300 thousand Azerbaijanis to Armenia."
"300 thousand Azerbaijanis are already preparing to come to Armenia, buying land and houses. Azerbaijanis know that villages, schools and kindergartens are being vacated for them. Our country is in serious danger," Karapetyan said in his address to the Armenian society.
Karapetyan emphasized that he would not allow this.
"Very little time is left and our people will have their say. As soon as we come to power, we will immediately remove this demand of Azerbaijan from the agenda. We will adopt laws and prohibit Azerbaijanis from buying land and houses in Armenia," Karapetyan said.
Samvel Karapetyan also accused Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of handing over Karabakh to Azerbaijan.
Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan called on Samvel Karapetyan to stop his absurd claims.
"Kalujets (as he called Samvel Karapetyan), there are 6 adult boys in your family. Why have they neither died nor been wounded for the homeland? Which country are you fighting for?" Papikyan said.
He added:
"You have never cared about Armenia. You are conspirators and scoundrels."
Papikyan further stated:
"If you are so patriotic, you would have sent your sons to the front during the 44-day war. Why were you hiding them under their mothers' skirts?
These scoundrels were hiding their children abroad and in their mansions," the Armenian Defense Minister emphasized.
