The “Baku Declaration” once again confirmed the importance of solidarity in combating global urban challenges.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, national coordinator for WUF13, at the official closing ceremony of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku.
According to the national coordinator, the document is of great importance in solving modern urban challenges, including the global housing crisis, ensuring more inclusive urban development, strengthening solidarity, partnership and coordinated international action.
“The Business and Innovation Center created within the framework of the Forum played the role of a separate cooperation platform for startups, private sector representatives, investors, innovators, governments and development partners.”
A.Guliyev added that 17 percent of WUF13 participants were private sector representatives. According to him, this shows the increasing role of the private sector in sustainable urban development.
