US President Donald Trump has announced that 5,000 American troops will be relocated to Poland.
Modern.az reports that "Bloomberg" agency disseminates this information.
Trump wrote on his social media account, "I am very pleased to announce that the US will send an additional 5,000 troops to Poland." It should be noted that just a week ago, the Pentagon had stopped sending a new combat group of 4,000 people to this country. At the moment the decision was canceled, some of the units had already departed from Texas and were in transit. This step caused serious misunderstanding and surprise in Poland, NATO countries, and the US Congress.
Warsaw is considered one of Trump's most important partners in Europe. Poland's name has never been mentioned in the US president's disputes with other NATO countries about security and Middle East policy. Poland is also one of the largest buyers of US weapons and is among the states that spend the most on its defense industry relative to GDP among alliance countries. The Republic buys "F-35" fighters and "Patriot" air defense systems from the US.
After the pause in the relocation of the new brigade, Polish officials had to convince the local population that the US military presence in the country was being maintained. US Vice President J.D. Vance called this delay a temporary measure, but at the same time emphasized that Europe should take more active steps to ensure its own security.
