A referendum will be held in Switzerland on June 14 to limit the country's population to 10 million people.

Modern.az reports that “Reuters” agency disseminated information about this.

According to the information, the initiative was put forward by the Swiss People's Party. According to the proposed law, the number of people permanently living in the Alpine federation should not exceed 10 million.

Surveys show that the majority of the country's citizens may answer “yes” in the referendum amid housing shortages and increasing burden on infrastructure.

It should be noted that Switzerland is one of the European countries where issues related to migration and population growth have been widely discussed in recent years.
