WUF13 has become an important platform not only in terms of decisions made, but also in terms of connections and cooperation created between people.

Modern.az reports that these ideas were voiced by Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and national coordinator for WUF13, at the official closing ceremony of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku.

The national coordinator thanked the partners, volunteers, translators, technical staff, service providers, state and private institutions who participated in the organization of the forum:

“It was your collective spirit that implemented inclusivity and turned dialogue into joint action.”

He emphasized that the hospitality of the Azerbaijani people also played a special role in the success of the forum.

The national coordinator stated that WUF13, held on the topic “Housing the World: Safe and Sustainable Cities and Communities,” brought the housing issue to the center of the global urban agenda.

“Discussions showed that housing is not only a basic human need, but also the foundation of dignity, sustainability, social inclusivity, and economic opportunities.

Solving the global housing crisis requires effective multilateral cooperation, innovative financing mechanisms, and coordinated action at all levels,” the committee chairman noted.
