It was stated that since the conflict began on February 28, the US has almost completely paralyzed the sea lanes and the strait. In response, Iran announced that it had completely closed the Strait of Hormuz, which caused a serious global crisis and disruptions in world oil and commodity trade.
Currently, the US Navy continues to control the Strait of Hormuz and does not allow ships to enter or exit Iranian ports. The main purpose of the blockade is to exert severe economic pressure on Iran. According to CENTCOM, the 4 detained ships were forced to stop after warning shots were fired, complying with the blockade directives.
