In the last 30 years, the number of people suffering from mental illnesses in the world has doubled.

Modern.az reports that according to the results of the large-scale "Global Burden of Disease" research published in "The Lancet", one of the most influential medical journals in the world, the prevalence of mental disorders has reached an unprecedented level.

Global indicators increased by 95.5% compared to 1990, exceeding the billion mark. The study recorded a sharp increase in anxiety disorder, depression, dysthymia, anorexia nervosa, bulimia, schizophrenia and behavioral disorders.

Thus, mental illnesses rose from 12th to 5th place among the causes of the global burden of disease. According to scientists, humanity has faced a loss of millions of years of healthy life due to these complications. Research shows that women are more prone to these diseases than men. The most vulnerable age group is adolescents aged 15-19. Experts emphasize that this increase is observed in all regions of the world, regardless of the accessibility of health resources.
