The appeal against the court verdict issued against Shahin Shikhlinski, former head of the Azerbaijani diaspora in the Urals, and his son Mutvali Shikhlinski, has been heard.
Modern.az reports that the Sverdlovsk Regional Court upheld the decision of the first instance court without changes.
It should be recalled that in April of this year, the court found the father and son guilty of using violence against a representative of authority. By the court's verdict, Shahin Shikhlinski was sentenced to 9 years in a strict regime prison, and his son Mutvali Shikhlinski to 8 years in a general regime prison.
It should be noted that the former head of the diaspora was previously sentenced to 22 years in a strict regime prison for another criminal case - being found guilty of the murder of a businessman and an assassination attempt against his compatriot. With the latest decision, based on the principle of accumulation of sentences, Shahin Shikhlinski's final sentence has been determined as 24 years of imprisonment.
