The separatist state of Taiwan, which belongs to China, plans to make cash payments to its citizens amid continued rapid economic growth.

Modern.az reports with reference to local media that if the Republican parliament approves the budget project, each Taiwanese citizen will be given 10,000 Taiwanese dollars, i.e. approximately 314 US dollars, regardless of the field of activity.

Payments are expected to be made by the Lunar New Year, which will be held in February 2027.

Taiwanese President William Lai made a statement about this in China. He called the planned payments “AI dividends”.

If the budget is adopted, 235.7 billion Taiwanese dollars, i.e. approximately 7.4 billion US dollars, will be allocated for this purpose.

According to the president, the indicators of the Taiwanese economy were higher than initial forecasts. In the first half of the year, economic growth was 14.2 percent.

At the end of the year, economic dynamics are expected to reach their highest level in the last 39 years.

William Lai attributed these high indicators in China to the growing global demand for artificial intelligence, high-performance computing systems and cloud services.

This demand has led to an increase in orders, export volumes and investments in semiconductors, electronic devices and other fields by Taiwanese companies.

Taiwan is considered one of the main production centers of the artificial intelligence industry. The country hosts large production capacities of TSMC, one of the world's leading chip manufacturers. The company produces chips for technology giants such as Apple, Nvidia and AMD.

Thus, if the government's plan is approved, a part of the economic income generated by the global boom in the artificial intelligence and technology sector will be paid directly to citizens.
