Chairman of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin stated that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is pursuing an unfriendly policy against Russia.
Modern.az reports that Volodin insulted Pashinyan in a social media post.
"Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan is pursuing an unfriendly policy against the Russian Federation, shamefully using the opportunities provided by our country," Volodin wrote.
He noted that Russia sells gas to Armenia at $177.5 per thousand cubic meters, "to its own detriment." This is approximately four times cheaper than the current price in Europe ($633). However, according to the speaker, in return, Russia faces "Pashinyan's baseness and dishonor."
According to the Duma chairman, Pashinyan's desire to remain in the Eurasian Economic Union is an attempt to continue using the Eurasian space for financial purposes.
"Thanks to this partnership, Armenia's Gross Domestic Product has increased 2.5 times."
Volodin also reminded that the Armenian parliament adopted a law on starting the process of the country's accession to the European Union, and a little earlier, by recognizing the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court (ICC), it became its full member.
"From a political point of view, all decisions have already been made by Pashinyan - these decisions are in favor of establishing relations with states that are at war with Russia and are unfriendly to our country," the speaker emphasized.
It should be noted that the eighth summit of the European Political Community was held in Armenia on May 4. Within the framework of the summit, Pashinyan met with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, and the parties held talks in English. In addition, Zelensky spoke at the Summit and made anti-Russian statements.
Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that with these steps, the Armenian authorities violated their promise not to take actions directed against Russia.
