"The US no longer has a place in the West Asia region and must leave the region."
Modern.az reports with reference to "Tasnim" that this was stated by Ali Akbar Velayati, advisor to the supreme leader of Iran on international affairs, ex-foreign minister.
In his analysis of regional issues, Velayati said that the Islamic Republic of Iran can deal with the US alone.
"The US will no longer have a place in the West Asia region and must leave this region."
Velayati added: "Unfortunately, in the meantime, we see that some Arab countries in the south of the Persian Gulf, such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain, have taken the weakest and worst positions in the matter of the Western attack against a Muslim country. It must be said without any concealment that the UAE is a partner in the crimes of these bloody and criminal regimes."
In another part of his speech, Velayati emphasized that Iraq is facing problems today that are contrary to the will of the Muslim people. According to him, the attempts of some Iraqi politicians to expand relations with the US are a step against the Iraqi people and the Islamic world.
He also stated: "I want to ask the Iraqi leaders: why does Iraqi Kurdistan pursue an actually independent foreign policy and operate separately from Baghdad, while it should be a region under the control of the central government?"
He added that Iraqi Kurdistan has become the logistical and organizational center of Kurdish opposition groups operating against Iran - including "Komala", "Kurdistan Democratic Party" and "Hypocrites". Velayati claimed that during the coup attempt in January last year, the main saboteurs entered Iranian territory from this region, and as a result, thousands of Iranians lost their lives.
He concluded: "Indifference in Iraq to important issues related to the Islamic world and the resistance front is a cause for concern. Our expectation from the Iraqi leaders is that they define their positions regarding the fate of this important part of the country."
