A bill has been prepared in the Iranian parliament that envisages the country's withdrawal from the "Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons".
Modern.az reports, citing "Fars" agency, that this was stated by the Deputy Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Ali Nikzad.
According to him, the initiative is currently being studied, including in terms of its international consequences.
The Deputy Speaker of Parliament noted that the document will be submitted to the plenary session with the status of "extraordinary importance" and deputies will have to consider it on the same day.
Nikzad recalled that Iran suspended cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in September last year. He called the organization's Director General Rafael Grossi a dishonest person.
"He is one of those people who comes, conducts inspections, praises us, then leaves and prepares a negative report against us."
The Deputy Speaker of Parliament said that the decision adopted last year was in Iran's favor: "Do we have the slightest hope that the Director General of the IAEA or those working there will help us in the field of nuclear energy? Of course not."
