Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, criticized Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's attempts to simultaneously remain in the Eurasian Economic Union and pursue a course of integration into the European Union.
Modern.az reports that Medvedev wrote about this in his post.
He stated that Pashinyan's approach to the issue of a referendum on which integration union Armenia should be a part of reminds him of Leon Trotsky.
"Comrade Nikol has followed the dangerous path of Comrade Leon Trotsky. In response to calls for a referendum on whether Armenia should remain in the EAEU or the European Union, he applied Trotsky's famous formula: 'Neither war nor peace, but disband the army.' That is, we will not hold a referendum, we will wait until we are called to the EU, and then we will run to Europe," Medvedev said.
The Russian official added that Armenia continues to enjoy the benefits of EAEU membership during this period.
Medvedev also hinted at Pashinyan's policy by recalling that Trotsky's political path ended in a tragic end.
