Armenia plans to launch at least three satellites into orbit in the coming years.
Modern.az reports that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this during his speech at the International Space Summit in Paris.
According to him, two of the satellites will be used for Earth observation and one for telecommunications purposes.
Pashinyan stated that, in parallel, ground infrastructure and internal capabilities will be created for satellite management, data reception, processing, and analysis.
“We plan to create a network of distributed ground stations that will not only serve Armenia's needs but also support international space missions,” the Prime Minister noted.
He added that the development of national space capabilities has been identified as a separate strategic goal in the Armenian government's program for 2026–2031.
It should be noted that Armenia launched its first satellite, “ARMSAT-1,” into orbit in 2022. A year later, the “HAYASAT-1” satellite, assembled and tested by Armenian specialists, was launched.
