Cybersecurity has become one of the main elements not only of the information technology sector, but also of national security, economic stability and digital development.
Member of the Milli Majlis Tahir Mirkishili told Modern.az about this.
The deputy stated that as digital transformation expands, ensuring cybersecurity is of strategic importance for the state:
"Today, digital transformation does not only mean electronic services or mobile applications. Public administration, the banking sector, business and daily services are increasingly built on digital platforms. In this case, the protection of these systems also becomes a priority issue."
According to him, cybersecurity plays the role of a protection system for the digital state and is directly related to the security of critical infrastructure such as energy, finance, health, transport, communication and public administration.

Tahir Mirkishili noted that the establishment of the National Cybersecurity Agency is an important step in terms of strengthening coordination in this area in the country:
"Cyber threats are no longer the problem of a single institution. The main task of the National Cybersecurity Agency is to identify risks in a timely manner, react promptly to cyber incidents, provide methodological support to institutions and strengthen the protection of citizen data."
The deputy stated that the new approach is aimed at preventing cyber threats rather than eliminating their consequences. According to him, security plans, risk assessment, audit mechanisms and backup recovery systems will play a key role in this direction.
Mirkishili emphasized that the importance of artificial intelligence in cybersecurity is also increasing. He noted that artificial intelligence allows identifying suspicious activities and possible cyberattacks at an early stage, thus making cyber defense more proactive.
According to the deputy, cybersecurity is not only a technological issue, but the human factor also plays a decisive role here. In this regard, increasing the digital literacy of civil servants, business representatives and citizens is of particular importance.
Tahir Mirkishili added that the transfer of state information systems to the "Government Cloud" (G-Cloud) platform will increase information security, service sustainability and the efficiency of public administration.
The deputy finally emphasized that President Ilham Aliyev's and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva's special attention to the establishment and activities of the Digital Council shows that the digitalization process in Azerbaijan is carried out taking into account security factors.
