Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about preparations for a new round of trilateral talks between delegations from Ukraine, Russia, and the United States, planned to be held this week in Abu Dhabi.

Modern.az reports that Zelenskyy stated on Monday that he would hold a meeting to agree on a "framework for discussion" and that the Ukrainian negotiating team would be on a visit that evening.

According to the Ukrainian side, the talks are scheduled to take place on Wednesday and Thursday.

"We expect the American side to be equally proactive, especially regarding de-escalation measures – the reduction of strikes. Much depends on what the American side can do to ensure that people trust both the process and the outcomes," Zelenskyy stated.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced that he had called Vladimir Putin and asked him to temporarily refrain from striking Ukraine's energy infrastructure during severe cold weather.

The Kremlin later confirmed that the "energy ceasefire" would remain in effect until February 1 and was intended to strengthen trust between the parties before the talks in Abu Dhabi.

The next round of talks was scheduled for February 1 but was postponed.
