One of the most important figures in modern information warfare are spokespersons who convey the voices of politicians to the world. In this regard, Israeli government spokesperson Shosh Bedrosyan has recently become one of the notable personalities.

Perhaps Shosh Bedrosyan's name and surname also mean something to Azerbaijani readers: for example, that she might be of Armenian origin...

So, what is Shosh or Shoshana Bedrosyan's nationality?

Modern.az website tried to investigate this.

Shoshana Bedrosyan was born and raised in the USA - in Westchester County, New York.

In one of her posts on X, she did not hide that her grandparents were of Armenian origin:

"But I don't know much about my Armenian side," Bedrosyan noted.

According to information about her, her great-grandfather once moved to America in search of a better life. Her great-grandfather is said to have been an Armenian who lived in Gaziantep, Turkey.

"My great-grandfather met my great-grandmother in New York and they settled there," Shosh Bedrosyan said in one of her statements.

Shoshana Bedrosyan's father is of Armenian descent, and her mother is an Ashkenazi Jew. Her father's name is Geoffrey, and her mother's name is Marla. She has two brothers named Daff and Zak.

She moved to Tel Aviv to serve in the Israeli government.

Sh. Bedrosyan graduated from Somers High School in Lincolndale, New York in 2015. She then studied at Ithaca College. During her student years, Shoshana also played on the college's women's soccer team.

She graduated in 2019 with a degree in television and journalism.

Starting her career as a journalist, Bedrosyan worked for various media organizations in the USA. She was an employee of publications such as "CBS News", "News 12", and "The Jerusalem Post".

During her journalistic career, Bedrosyan gained experience by covering both local events and international topics.

On September 25, 2025, Shoshana Bedrosyan was appointed as the spokesperson and communications specialist for foreign media relations of the Israeli government, ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to the UN General Assembly.

At that time, this appointment attracted the attention of foreign media. This was because the process was carried out quickly and "special trust relations" were cited as the reason for the appointment.

This indicates that Ms. Bedrosyan is considered a reliable communicator within the Netanyahu government.

The protocol regarding her appointment noted that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu himself interviewed Shosh Bedrosyan and was impressed by her abilities. It was noted that she speaks English at a native level, has international journalism experience, including working for the CBS network in the USA. It was also emphasized that she has the ability to present, shape, and deliver news in a way that is appropriate for an international audience, and has a high ability to understand various cultural nuances and sensitivities.

Sh. Bedrosyan's activities have come to the forefront especially during a period of increased tension in the Middle East. She has recently become one of the main figures conveying the Israeli government's position to the international media. For example, she has made official statements during ceasefire negotiations regarding Gaza, shared detailed information about the process of releasing hostages, and announced the government's position regarding the participation of international forces in the region.

Foreign media writes that Shosh Bedrosyan's journalistic background also seriously influences her style. She explains complex topics simply and clearly, knows how to work well with the media, and adapts messages to an international audience.

These characteristics distinguish her from classic bureaucratic spokespersons.

But like any government spokesperson, Bedrosyan is not immune to criticism. Her speeches are evaluated as political propaganda and sometimes provoke controversial reactions in the international media.

Shoshana Bedrosyan regularly makes various posts on her social media accounts.

For example, one of her posts is about the signing of a memorandum of understanding in the field of artificial intelligence between Israel and Azerbaijan. Ms. Bedrosyan posted a photo taken during that ceremony against the backdrop of the Israeli and Azerbaijani flags on social media.

Incidentally, Armenians express their sympathy for Shoshana Bedrosyan on social networks, stating that they see her as "one of their own." One can even find Armenians writing that they are proud of Bedrosyan. This is not without reason, as such figures hold certain political or symbolic significance for the widespread opportunistic Armenian diaspora around the world.

Although Shoshana Bedrosyan sees herself more as a Jew than an Armenian. This is because no statements of hers that would evoke sympathy for Armenians can be found in the media and social networks.

But the Armenian diaspora does not give up its tendency to "claim" such individuals who achieve success in politics and media, and tries to take advantage of every opportunity.
Members of the Armenian diaspora often intentionally try to provoke emotional reactions by highlighting the ethnic origin of such individuals on social networks.

Shosh Bedrosyan says she has a great passion for traveling the world and enjoys learning about different cultures and languages. She is interested in history and closely follows world news.
