Indian citizen Prashant Rajan Babu, wanted in connection with the production and sale of fake medicines, has been detained after returning to his country from Azerbaijan.
Modern.az reports with reference to Indian media that the 35-year-old man was arrested by police at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru on the morning of September 28. India's special investigation team considers him one of the key figures in an interstate fake medicine network.
During the investigation, it was determined that the suspect was in Azerbaijan. According to previous reports from the Indian press, his passport had been seized by migration authorities there.
The case began after a large quantity of fake and expired medicines were discovered during a raid in India. The investigation suspects that the network repackaged preparations obtained from various locations and put them up for sale as products from well-known manufacturers.
