Contact has been lost with the “Virgo Transport 8” ship sailing in the Java Sea during a storm in Indonesia. There were 243 people on board.
Modern.az reports that the Indonesian National Search and Rescue Agency issued a statement about this.
Operations coordinator Putu Sudayana stated that the ship was last approximately 80 nautical miles from the “SAR Basirih” bridge in Banjarmasin.
Contact with the crew was lost around 2:00 AM local time after weather conditions severely deteriorated.
Naval forces, water police, port and navigation services have been involved in the search operations.
