Currently, the snowfall and frosty weather conditions observed in several regions of the country significantly complicate traffic on roads. Slippery road surfaces, limited visibility, and sudden weather changes increase the risk of road traffic accidents.
Modern.az reports that, in connection with the weather conditions, the Main State Traffic Police Department stated in its appeal to drivers that one of the main causes of accidents in snowy weather is the use of tires that are not suitable for the season and are worn out:
"For this reason, we ask drivers to:
• Avoid long-distance and mountainous trips unless absolutely necessary;
• Absolutely check the technical condition of vehicles, especially the suitability of tires for the winter season, their tread depth, and pressure;
• Drive with winter tires, not ordinary tires, on snowy and slippery roads;
• Choose your speed limit according to road and weather conditions, and maintain a safe distance;
• Do not get behind the wheel when tired or sleepy".
Employees of the Main State Traffic Police Department are serving in an enhanced regime in the regions, and control and explanatory discussions with drivers are continuing in dangerous road sections.
