Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi commented on German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's call for a quick end to the war against Iran amid rising energy prices.

Modern.az reports that Araqchi recalled in his post on his “X” account that Merz supported the US and Israeli strikes on Iran last year.

“Last year, when Israel and the US started bombing Iran, Mr. Merz applauded it: “They are doing Europe's dirty work.” 100 billion euros is nothing compared to the devastating blow that Iran's powerful Armed Forces will deliver to those who dare to harm our people. Red lines are a thing of the past,” the minister wrote.

Previously, Merz stated that the rise in energy prices as a result of the war has created more than 100 billion euros in additional costs for European companies and consumers in the last eight months. The Chancellor emphasized that it is in Europe's economic interests for the conflict to end as soon as possible.

Araqchi, on the other hand, stated that his country's Armed Forces would respond more strongly if there was a new attack against Iran.

It should be noted that obstacles to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz have led to an increase in prices in the world energy market. The Iranian side links the opening of the strait to the US stopping military operations.
