The trial in the criminal case of editor-in-chief Vugar Mammadov, who was detained during the operation conducted by the State Security Service (SSS) at "Hurriyyet" newspaper and "Hurriyyet TV", has begun.

Modern.az reports that today, at the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, during the process chaired by Judge Elmin Rustamov, the questionnaire data was clarified.

The criminal case has been submitted for court review, and the review session has been scheduled for May 18.

It should be noted that Vugar Mammadov was detained on October 29 last year as a result of an operation conducted by the SSS at "Hurriyyet" newspaper and "Hurriyyet TV". By court decision, a pre-trial detention measure was chosen against Vugar Mammadov. He was charged under Articles 182.2.2 (Extortion committed repeatedly) and 182.2.4 (Extortion committed with the aim of obtaining a significant amount of property) of the Criminal Code.(APA)
