On July 13, the strategy of the D-8 Media Excellence Center was presented within the framework of the IV Shusha Global Media Forum.
Modern.az reports that Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, speaking before the presentation, stated that Azerbaijan is a full member of the D-8 family.
“This platform is of great importance in terms of global economic cooperation, and we attach special importance to the activities of the organization. President Ilham Aliyev welcomed the initiative to establish the Media Excellence Center, as well as the Transport and Energy Excellence Centers in Azerbaijan within the D-8 framework. Today we are already seeing the first results of that initiative,” Hikmet Hajiyev noted.
The Assistant to the President emphasized that the D-8 Media Excellence Center is an important platform for expanding cooperation in the media field among member countries.
D-8 Organization Secretary General Sohail Mahmud thanked all D-8 member countries for their contributions to the formation of this initiative. He said that the world has fundamentally changed compared to when D-8 was established in 1997: “Unipolarity is now a thing of the past. We are witnessing a strong trend towards multipolarity. In such circumstances, the mission of D-8 as an economic cooperation organization has gained new importance. At the same time, the capabilities of member states have significantly increased.”
Fuad Mardiyev, General Director of the “Media Excellence Network”, provided detailed information about the strategy of the D-8 Media Excellence Center. He noted that the main goal of the D-8 Media Excellence Center is to strengthen cooperation in the media field among member countries, promote the development of professional potential, research and innovation, and also form a unified cooperation platform in the media field.
During the presentation, information was provided about the planned activities of the Center in the direction of institutional development, expansion of international cooperation, creation of coordination mechanisms among member states, exchange of experience, conducting media research, and combating disinformation.
It was noted that in the next stage of activity, the creation of a cooperation network bringing together media institutions of D-8 member states, the implementation of joint projects, the expansion of partnerships with international organizations, as well as the sharing of advanced practices in the media field are envisaged.
