Azerbaijani journalist re-elected as head of international media organization

The next General Assembly of the Global Journalists Council (Küresel Gazeteciler Konseyi) has concluded. The chairman of the organization, Mehmet Ali Dim, was re-elected to this position, and at the same time, the new composition of the management and other bodies was determined.

Modern.az reports that the III General Assembly of the Global Journalists Council, established in 2019 as an international association, began on April 8 and concluded on July 4 with the election of the board of directors, supervisory, ethics and honorary councils, as well as specialized committees and working groups.

It is reported that the General Assembly of the organization, which currently has representations in 84 countries and 81 provinces of Turkey, was held online via the "Zoom" platform, organized by a company accredited by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the results of the voting, Mehmet Ali Dim was re-elected as the chairman of the Global Journalists Council for the next three years. The Assembly also formed the heads of the Broadcasting, Local, Foreign and Digital Media councils, their boards of directors, as well as regional working groups created for the first time.

According to the results of the voting held at the General Assembly, Özgenur Reyhan Güler was elected as the Chairman of the Broadcasting Media Council, İsrafil Avcı as the Chairman of the Local Media Council, and Azerbaijani journalist Elşad Eyvazlı as the Chairman of the Foreign Media Council. According to the results of the voting, Güven Hasbaş will lead the Digital Media Council.

According to the decision, Dursun Eker was elected as Deputy Chairman in the Broadcasting Media Council, Ahmet Coşkunaydın in the Foreign Media Council, İbrahim Arslan in the Local Media Council, and Denizhan Erkoç in the Digital Media Council. The boards of directors and other members of all four councils were also approved at the General Assembly.

It should be noted that the newly elected leadership will operate during 2026-2029.

Speaking at the General Assembly, Mehmet Ali Dim recalled that there were those who did not believe in the organization's success in its early years, stating that today KGK has become a wide network of journalists operating in various countries around the world.

According to him, the main goal of the organization is to strengthen media cooperation between the Turkic world, the Balkans, the Middle East, Europe and Africa, and to further expand its activities as a professional journalist organization with international prestige.
