Azerbaijani billionaire lost $51 million in 1 day

A change has been recorded in the fortune of Azerbaijani-born Russian businessman Vahid Alakbarov, the founder of "Lukoil" company.

Modern.az reports with reference to foreign media that as a result of recent fluctuations in the global market, the businessman lost 51 million dollars in the last 24 hours. Currently, his net worth is estimated at 23.4 billion dollars. With this indicator, Alakbarov is ranked 110th in the list of the richest people in the world.

Despite small daily losses, the financial year has been successful for Vahid Alakbarov since the beginning of 2026. Thus, during the first four months of the year, his total wealth increased by approximately 887 million dollars. In March, this figure was reported to be higher (close to 25 billion dollars) against the background of activity in the oil market.

Born in Baku in 1950, Vahid Alakbarov led "Lukoil", Russia's largest private oil company, for many years.
