China and the US should develop partnership relations, not competition, for common prosperity and success.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, during talks with US President Donald Trump at a meeting of the House of People's Representatives in Beijing on May 14.
“Confrontation between China and the US would lead to mutual harm, so they should be partners, not rivals,” Xi Jinping said.
The Chinese leader noted that mutual support and joint development can help Beijing and Washington form a new format of cooperation between the two great powers in modern conditions. He also emphasized that he hopes for an exchange of views on key issues related to the interests of both countries and the international agenda.
US President Donald Trump, in turn, said that his visit to China was a great honor for him.
“This is an honor that very few people get,” he emphasized.
The American leader also spoke about the prospects for cooperation between the two countries. According to him, a “great future” awaits the US and China.
