There are strong ties between Azerbaijan and Ukraine.
Vladimir Kreydenko, a member of the Ukrainian parliament and head of the Ukraine-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary friendship group, stated this in an exclusive statement to Modern.az within the framework of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum held in Baku.
He noted that this is not his first visit to Azerbaijan and that relations between the two countries are at a high level:
“We have held many meetings with members of the Azerbaijani parliament. We have discussed cooperation in economy, infrastructure, financial sector and other areas. There are very strong ties between the Azerbaijani and Ukrainian peoples. We must continue this cooperation in economy, transport and other fields to create more opportunities for people.”
The MP also highly appreciated Azerbaijan's humanitarian support to Ukraine:
“At such a time, the support provided in the energy sector is very important for us. The Azerbaijani state, government, President Ilham Aliyev are actively working to provide assistance to Ukraine.”
Vladimir Kreydenko stated that family ties between the two peoples also strengthen relations:
“The number of Azerbaijani and Ukrainian families is quite sufficient. This shows how close the relations between our peoples are.”
The member of the Ukrainian parliament also added that the meetings held within the framework of WUF13 are an important platform for discussing the situation in Ukraine and increasing international support.
