The operations of large oil refineries located in the central regions of Russia have been limited after attacks carried out by Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles.
Modern.az reports that "Reuters" disseminated information about this.
It was stated that as a result of the attacks in recent days, many large oil refineries in Central Russia have either completely ceased operations or have been forced to reduce fuel production. Currently, the total capacity of fully or partially suspended enterprises is more than 83 million tons per year, which accounts for approximately one-quarter of Russia's total oil refining capacity.
It is reported that these refineries account for more than 30 percent of gasoline and approximately 25 percent of diesel fuel produced in Russia.
Among the facilities affected by the attacks are the Kirishi oil refinery, the Moscow oil refinery, as well as plants in Nizhny Novgorod, Ryazan, and Yaroslavl.
According to sources, the Kirishi plant, considered one of Russia's largest oil refining enterprises, has completely ceased operations as of May 5. The inactivity of the plant, which has a refining capacity of 20 million tons per year, has created additional pressure on the country's fuel market.
In addition, it was reported that the “Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez” (NORSI) plant, with a capacity of 17 million tons per year, was also subjected to a drone attack on May 20.
It should be noted that the Moscow government has imposed a ban on gasoline exports from April until the end of July to prevent fuel shortages in the domestic market.
