Armenian media has published a new article about the issues agreed upon at the 13th meeting of the delimitation commissions, chaired by Deputy Prime Ministers Mher Grigoryan and Shahin Mustafayev, held in Aghveran on April 29 this year.

According to Modern.az, the article recalled that at the April 29 meeting, the delimitation commissions of Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed upon and exchanged the texts of three draft instructions on the procedures for carrying out delimitation work.

The parties agreed to submit these rules to their governments for approval. This means that the governments of Armenia and Azerbaijan must approve them through relevant decisions.

The draft government decision approving the three rules prepared by the Armenian Ministry of Justice was put up for public discussion on the official website publishing its legal acts between May 15-31.

According to the rules agreed upon by the parties, expert delimitation groups will be established. These expert groups will report to the commissions.

“Experts will work with all relevant cartographic documents, as well as all regulatory and other legally binding documents. This indicates that there are no restrictions on the use of maps and legally binding documents,” Armenian media wrote.

Expert groups will work with all cartographic and legal documents, and will also process remote sensing (satellite imagery) or drone footage.

During the delimitation period, a unified geodesic base (not containing information constituting a state secret) must be created, and topographic and geodesic work must be completed, including surveying the entire border, agreeing on the border line, preparing a draft delimitation map reflecting the agreed border line, describing the state border, etc.

On the delimitation map, the agreed border line will be shown as a continuous red line. The map must cover the entire length of the border and a territorial strip 3 kilometers wide on each side. All map sheets will be presented in album format. The numbering of the sheets will start from the northern part of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border and move from west to east.

It should be recalled that delimitation between the parties began in the spring of 2024.

On April 19, 2024, the Armenian side handed over the villages of Baganis Ayrum, Ashaghi Askipara, Kheyrimli, and Gizilhajili in occupied Gazakh to Azerbaijan.
