Border control against hantavirus is being carried out in Khuzestan province, located in the southwest of Iran.

Modern.az reports that "Khabar Fouri" agency spread information about this.

"Mehrdad Sharifi, deputy for health at Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences in Ahvaz, stated that there is full and comprehensive preparation and no particular concern," the report emphasized.

It should be noted that the head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, stated at a press conference after meeting with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez that there are no signs of a wider spread of the hantavirus belonging to the "Andes" strain yet.

At the same time, the first case of hantavirus infection was recorded in Spain.

According to WHO, Azerbaijan is not considered an endemic region for hantavirus, and this virus is not found among rodents living in the country.
