Reza Pahlavi, son of the Shah of Iran, has announced that he does not rule out the possibility of the restoration of the monarchy in Iran.

Modern.az reports that in a statement to the media, Pahlavi responded to a journalist's comment that "a true democrat should categorically rule out the restoration of the monarchy" by saying that he did not agree with this approach.

According to him, the experience of European countries shows that democracy can coexist with various forms of government:

"Let's look at Europe today: Germany is a republic, Belgium is also a democracy, France is a democratic state, as are Sweden, Italy, and Spain. They are all democracies. But some of these countries are republics, and some are monarchies."

Reza Pahlavi emphasized that the main issue is the protection of the people's right to choose:

"If you say that people cannot decide what system they want through voting, then you are not respecting the will of the Iranian people."

He noted that the country's future governance model should be determined only on the basis of the free choice of the people.
