The request of Russia's former deputy defense minister Timur Ivanov to be sent to the war zone in Ukraine has not been granted.

Modern.az reports with reference to Russian media that the court rejected the complaint against the decision of the Moscow Military Commissariat to refuse to conclude a military service contract with him.

According to the information, Timur Ivanov, who was sentenced to 13 years and 6 months in prison on charges of embezzlement of state funds, applied twice to be sent to the front. In his first application, he stated that he wanted to serve in the rank of major, and in his subsequent application, he stated that he was ready to serve in any rank and position.

However, both applications were answered negatively.

It should be noted that Timur Ivanov was found guilty of embezzling state funds during the construction of ships for the Crimean ferry crossing. In addition, another criminal case was opened against him on charges of taking a bribe of 1.3 billion rubles.
