The information states that today the staff of the US Embassy in Azerbaijan gathered to commemorate the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and their aftermath.
“Together, we remembered the victims of the attacks and their families, the first responders who bravely faced unimaginable danger, as well as everyone whose lives were forever changed after that tragic day.
We also recalled that after the attacks, many countries around the world, including Azerbaijan, showed solidarity with the United States. US and Azerbaijani servicemen served shoulder to shoulder as part of coalition forces in Afghanistan. We are grateful to Azerbaijan for its contributions to our joint fight against global terrorism.
25 years ago, terrorists attacked the United States with the aim of threatening the American way of life. From the darkness, the eternal truth of the American character shone in a way that the whole world could see. The terrorists could not achieve their goals - they could not shake the spirit of our people,” the statement said.
