Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman asked US President Donald Trump to launch strikes against the Houthis in Yemen. Trump, however, rejected the offer.

Modern.az reports, citing “Axios” publication, based on two US officials.

According to the information, Mohammed bin Salman called Trump twice by phone, urging him to start a military operation against the Houthis.

US officials stated that the Trump administration is not currently planning a direct military intervention against the Houthis.

According to sources familiar with the discussions, in recent weeks, US officials have informed their Saudi Arabian counterparts that Trump's directive is to focus American forces primarily on Iran and the Strait of Hormuz.

The US administration is trying to avoid opening a new military front.

Meanwhile, the situation in Yemen is reported to be escalating. The Iranian-backed Houthis have advanced along the Red Sea coast, capturing the strategically important city of Moha and approaching the Bab al-Mandab Strait. This situation has increased concerns regarding international shipping and energy transportation.
