A court verdict has been issued against Eldar Jalilov and Samir Sheydayev, who were accused of financing terrorism in Azerbaijan. Each of them has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Modern.az reports that the trial of Eldar Jalilov and Samir Sheydayev, arrested by the State Security Service (SSS), has concluded at the Sumgayit Court for Grave Crimes.
The verdict was announced at the session chaired by Judge Nahid Mirzayev. By the court's decision, both individuals were sentenced to 10 years in prison. They will serve their sentences in a strict regime correctional facility.
E. Jalilov and S. Sheydayev were charged under Article 214-1 of the Criminal Code – financing terrorism.
According to the indictment, starting from 2021, they sent money at various times through rapid money transfer systems to third parties in foreign countries. It was determined that these funds were delivered to the “Islamic State of Iraq and Syria” (ISIS) terrorist organization for the purchase of weapons and other means for terrorist purposes.
