Armenian political scientist and head of the “Regional Studies Center” (RSC) organization, Richard Giragosian, has died in Istanbul.
Modern.az reports that the Armenian-language newspaper Agos published information about this.
According to the publication, the 61-year-old expert passed away on the evening of September 19. Giragosian suffered a brain hemorrhage while in Istanbul last week and was hospitalized. He was treated in the intensive care unit for a long time.
Giragosian was known for his statements on Armenia-Azerbaijan relations and the Karabakh issue for many years. His speeches included harsh and critical positions regarding Azerbaijan, especially accusations against Baku's policy on the Karabakh issue.
The political scientist was one of the experts who presented Azerbaijan as a threat to Armenia and defended a harsh stance regarding Baku.
Giragosian's funeral ceremony is reported to be held in Armenia.
