US President Donald Trump said he was not at all concerned about the possibility of impeachment after Democrats won the midterm elections and took control of both houses of Congress.
Modern.az reports that “New York Post” published information about this.
According to Trump, an attempt to remove him from power without sufficient grounds would result in the political bankruptcy of the Democratic Party.
When asked by journalists whether the possibility of impeachment worried him, the US President answered:
“No, no, not in the least.”
Trump said that if Democrats take such a step, it could destroy their party:
“I think it would destroy the Democratic Party. If they take such a step, it will be an impeachment without any basis. Why? Because the country is developing successfully?”
Trump added that he is ready to cooperate with Democrats.
The President also stated that he is ready to cooperate with Democrats in Congress. However, he warned that he would use his veto power if he considered their activities destructive.
“If they don't want to be destructive, I can probably get along with the Democrats. But I have veto power,” Trump said.
