The Democratic Party has gained a majority in the Senate in the US midterm elections.
Modern.az reports with reference to AP that Democrats also won the Senate elections in Texas, South Carolina and Kansas, which are considered traditional strongholds of Republicans. The party also won Republican mandates in North Carolina and Ohio.
For the first time since 1932 in Kansas, 1988 in Texas, and 1998 in South Carolina, Democratic candidates have been elected to the Senate.
The counting of votes continues. Democrats, who also gained an advantage in the House of Representatives, are close to gaining a majority in this chamber.
