Venezuelan opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Maria Corina Machado has returned to her country after approximately 1 year in exile. She was met by tens of thousands of citizens in the capital, Caracas.

Modern.az reports that “Reuters” agency disseminated this information.

As Machado's motorcade entered the capital on the evening of October 25, she exclaimed, “This country is teaching everyone a lesson!”

Machado was not allowed to run in the presidential elections held after the overthrow of ex-president Nicolas Maduro. The Nobel Peace Prize laureate was away from the country for 10 months. Before that, she was forced to hide after controversial elections.

Machado shared on the social network “X”:

According to an informed source to “Reuters”, Machado's return to the country was agreed upon with the governments of the USA, Panama, and Colombia. It is reported that US President Donald Trump approved her return and was informed about the progress of the process.

However, Trump told reporters at the White House on October 25 that he was unaware of Machado's return. He also indicated that the US would continue to support Venezuela's interim president, Delcy Rodriguez.

“She is a very good woman. We have everything very good in Venezuela,” Trump said.

It should be recalled that earlier this year, US military personnel detained Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and took him to the US. Currently, Delcy Rodriguez is exercising the powers of the country's president.
