Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that peace with Azerbaijan has already become a real situation, and in the next stage, it is important to legally formalize this process.
Modern.az reports that Pashinyan voiced these thoughts in an interview with “Euronews” within the framework of the European Union enlargement summit held in Brussels.
According to the Prime Minister, it does not seem convincing that the European Union is ready to accept a country in conflict. However, he emphasized that there has been a positive change in relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Pashinyan noted that peace was established between the two countries after the agreements reached in Washington on August 8, 2025.
He specifically noted the initiative and support of US President Donald Trump in this process.
Pashinyan stated that the agreements reached are not only a document expressing the intention for peace, but also affected the real situation:
The Prime Minister also drew attention to the importance of strengthening the achieved results at the institutional level. According to him, against the background of the current international situation, establishing peace on legal grounds is of particular importance.
“It is very important to institutionalize peace now, especially considering what is happening in the world. The peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan was initialed by our foreign ministers in Washington. Now we must sign and ratify the agreement,” Pashinyan emphasized.
