Russian President Vladimir Putin has dismissed Sergey Melikov from the post of head of the Republic of Dagestan.

Modern.az reports with reference to Russian media that Fyodor Shukin has been appointed to temporarily perform the duties of the head of the republic in his place.

Sergey Melikov is said to have been sent into resignation due to the serious consequences of heavy rains in Dagestan.
