The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the attack carried out by the US last night on Sirik district and Qeshm island.
According to information disseminated by Modern.az citing foreign media, the ministry's statement emphasized that this action was evaluated as a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement reached on April 8.
The statement noted that the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, exercising their right to self-defense, responded adequately and effectively to the aforementioned attack, as a result of which the realization of the attack's objectives was prevented.
The document stated that the repeated violation of the ceasefire by the US demonstrates that Washington does not have a real intention to de-escalate tensions and restore stability in the region. It was also emphasized that such actions by the US pose a serious threat to regional security, and the responsibility for all possible consequences of the tension falls on the US administration.
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on regional states to adhere to the principles of good neighborliness and not to allow their territories and capabilities to be used in military operations directed against Iran.
At the end of the statement, the UN Secretary-General, the Security Council, and other international organizations were invited to take urgent and effective measures against the US's violation of the ceasefire and its illegal actions.
